Despite only three months of GST registration, their strong industry experience, property backing, and handshake agreements for ongoing work from farms to ports made this a promising deal. However, the path to approval was far from straightforward. We identified four lenders with an appetite for this deal, but the road was bumpy. After securing a verbal approval, one lender unexpectedly backed out, costing us three precious days as the harvest season loomed just a week away. Undeterred, our team quickly pivoted, workshopping solutions and securing approval from another lender who had initially hesitated due to the short GST period. By highlighting the client’s impeccable repayment history with another lender and our track record of delivering solid deals, we got the deal across the line.
The challenges didn’t end there. On settlement day – a tense Friday afternoon – we hit a final hurdle: the trailers were registered in the vendor’s personal name, not their company. With time running out, Rockliff Finance worked swiftly with the lender to resolve the issue, finalising the transaction at 5:28 PM. This ensured the client could collect the trailers on Saturday and have them operational in the fields by Monday morning.
